The Devil's Porridge Exhibition
by Hoggett Creative
The Devil's Porridge is a 4 star state-of-the-art Visit Scotland attraction. It tells the story of the building and operation of one of the greatest munitions factories which ever existed and of the huge number of munitions workers who came here from throughout the Empire to support the war effort in the First World War.
Fixed Exhibition Display
Hoggett Creative also designed a World War 2 exhibition for The Devil's Porridge Museum in Eastriggs, Annan, Dumfries and Galloway. This exhibition was designed to a tight deadline and budget. It was situated alongside the main World War 1 exhibition but was to stand alone. We achieved this by splitting the space into four main areas, through the use of colour and making all images consistent in style and colour. The panels were designed to exhibition display standards, this covered content, font size, colours and viewing position.
The printed display panels were fixed with either aluminium stand-offs or hanging wires and large printed wall and floor graphics.
Over time this display has grown and been further developed to include a portable display for their 100 year anniversary remembrance of the Quintinshill Rail Disaster. This coincided with the official opening of the museum by Princess Anne, and the unveiling of the memorial to mark the communities remembrance. We had a very short timescale to complete this project, but we were very pleased with the result. We especially like the build quality and size of the 1.2m wide roller banner. They have two rear poles for panel stability and a heavy base with a lifetime warranty.
What the client said...
"Hoggett Creative has made a great contribution to the displays at the Devil's Porridge Museum. It is great to have a local company which gives you the personal touch and can provide quality work within tight timescales. Our World War 2 panels and our temporary Quintinshill Centenary Exhibition are very professional and have attracted good feedback."
